This site is to show how I built my 4X5 camera and hopefully help you to
build one as well. I built everything on this system, from the body to the
ground glass to the bellows. I'm also including other woodworking projects
I'm working on.
I've also included stuff like pictures
I've taken with the cameras I've built, why
even go large format in the first place, and technical
data on film for 4X5s, developing and anything else I could think of. Also
included are any and all the links
I've found useful in my journey through the world of large format photography.

I've got everything done except for the Brass and Finish work
on my current camera project.
That section won't take too long though. 01/15/02 |

I'm finally getting around to doing more work on the
site. Most of my current camera project
is updated. 12/30/01 Happy New Year! |
|
I've added the Power Point file with the plans to date to the
web site (Camera 2 section).
As I finish up the plans I'll update the file and the site. 10/31/01 |
| I finally have some pictures up of the finished Walnut and
Maple camera. Go to current camera project and each section will have pictures of the finished
product. 10/20/01 |
| OK, I got an email from a visitor to the site that asked
when I was going to finish a few sections of the site. Well, I finally
got a chance to start working on the camera again and it is almost finished so
I'll be finishing up the plans in short order. I've just taken a whole
roll of film of the camera so as soon as those are developed I'll get 'em up
on the site as well. Thanks for your patience. Babies eat up a lot
of time! 10/10/01 |
| I've done a lot of stuff the the plans on my current
camera project. I've added some construction pictures to each of
the sections and did some work to the plans for the standards, adding both
complex and simple standards. I hope you find what I've added helpful.

| I've added a section on the construction of a bag
bellows. Time's been a bit tight since the birth of my new daughter
on 2/23 so I haven't had time to add a lot to the site. Sorry, I'll
get more stuff up as soon as I can. 4/14/01 |
| There are some additions to the spring
back and ground glass frame section for my second camera and I've added
a couple of pictures I've taken with
the first camera I built. 3/16/01 |
| I've added pictures and a little info on the first
4X5 camera I built. I've also added some info to the ground
glass creation page and made a couple of changes to the bellows
page. 2/10/01 |
| Plans are now up for the spring
back on my second camera. 1/29/01 |
|
I've added the plans for the front
and rear frames for my second camera. 1/24/01 |
|
I added all of the Fuji Films to the technical
data page and added information on how to make a ground
glass focusing screen. 1/23/01 |
|
Added some links and started putting some blueprints
of the standards up on
my second camera. 12/28/00 |
|
Just added my bellow construction techniques today (under Camera
Creation) and the first picture I
took on my 4X5. 12/25/00 |
|
I've got quite a bit of technical data on 4X5 film loaded so at least
that section has some good info. 12/25/00 |
